A C. Bechstein Model B grand piano in a high gloss wood finish case
This piano is from the 1960s and was handbuilt in West Berlin
Unlike most other German manufacturers, the post war Bechstein pianos were just as good as the pre war ones, if not better. This piano is not to be confused with the many decrepit pre war Bechsteins, made of old materials which aren't suitable for modern central heated homes (all pre war Bechsteins fall apart, for this reason we almost never buy them unless they have been fully restored). This is a modern instrument built from more suitable materials for modern homes
This piano also benefits from a much higher level of precision and attention to detail compared to the antique Bechsteins. Pre war, Bechstein were making around 2000-3000 pianos per year. In the 1960s the Bechstein factory was making just 150 pianos per year, so the pianos received significantly more care and attention
Top quality Renner action in super condition showing extremely minor signs of use. Stringing in excellent condition. This piano was previously in a stunning North London multi million pound mansion and it appears has mostly been used for decoration
Casework in fantastic condition for the age. There is a very slight color variation across the various sections of the piano due to light over time, but this is barely noticeable and significantly better than most wood finish pianos we see - we typically see more color variation than this on pianos that are 10 years old
An outstanding instrument suitable for even the most demanding professional players. In our opinion, the build quality and tone of this piano is much better than the brand new C Bechstein pianos. New price of Model B today £110,000
